Central Equatoria

An increase in Tuberculosis infection cases have been reported in Yei River County in Central Equatoria State.

The health department in the state says more than 50 cases have been recorded since January.

This is a sharp increase from 33 cases registered last year.

Tongu Felix Olu, a nursing officer in Yei attributes the rise to lack of awareness campaigns.

“My information to the ministry of health is to carry out messages of TB awareness through the media. What I also need to tell them is to give us full support on medication, Majority of our patients failing to take drugs sometimes we are missing drugs here” He said.
