Wau football association launches headquarters construction

The construction of the grand headquarters of Wau Local Football Association in Western Bahr el Ghazal State started on Sunday, the association president said.

Mr Santino Udol said the football governing body headquarters consisting of seven offices and two halls, will take three to four months.

Udol said the project is funded by Wau Local Football Association and implemented by its local construction contractors.

The total cost of the project was not disclosed in the press statement. Udol said the project will create job opportunities to many youths and players in the area.

“The construction process has now begun, and it is a complete structure of the wall, in addition to offices, small halls for meetings, and conference halls,” he told the media on Sunday.

On his part, Albino Kuek, the spokesperson of the South Sudan Football Association, who attended the event, described the initiative as a great step to improve football in the country.

Albino said football infrastructure are the priority to upholding sports activities in the country.

“For us in the National Football Association, infrastructure projects are among our priorities, and we appreciate that strongly, because is the only way to improve the sport.”

The Minister of Youth and Sports in Western Bhr-eGhzal said the project is the beginning of sports development in the area.

Mohamed Ali said the state government is waiting for the implementation of renovation Wau main stadium that was pledged by president Kiir.

“Rehabilitating of this building is very important because we are waiting for the great support from His Excellency the President of the Republic for the maintenance of Wau Stadium.”

“This makes us ready with all our strength to receive this great support.”
