The Ethiopian Prime Minister says the IGAD heads of state will soon hold a summit that will bring the warring parties of South Sudan together.

Hailemariam Dessalegn is the chair of IGAD. He says the regional leaders would like to hear from the parties the result of their consultations.

“…they wanted to discuss on the deadlock issues with their constituencies. We allowed them to discuss on those issues, we are now waiting for the results of their consultations that have not been ended. And so the next summit of IGAD will be conducted very soon. Therefore, we will listen to their consultations’ results and we will decide upon those consultations.” Said Dessalegn.

IGAD mediators had adjourned the peace talks to allow the negotiators celebrate Christmas with their families.

The talks are expected to resume next week in Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
