Authorities in Western Equatoria State say the Director of Security in Mundri West has been shot dead by unknown gunmen.

Bodies of two civilians were also found dumped somewhere in the county. It was not known who killed them.

The Acting Commissioner of the County, John Cleopas, says four civilians were also injured in the incident, which took place last night.

“Yesterday around 08:45 PM, there were random shootings in the market… I learned from the deputy director of national security that it was the Director of Security, Mr. Arop Kiir who was shot and killed indirectly by unknown gunmen and four civilians were also injured.” He said.

Cleopas says they have launched an investigation to establish the causes of the incident.
