Warring parties agree to withdraw forces from front lines

The warring parties have agreed to withdraw their forces from the front-lines, a representative of the civil society at the peace talks in Addis Ababa ha said.

Emmanuel Poul who is also a member of the security committee, says the warring parties and the stakeholders are negotiating with a renewed spirit.

“There were tensions, but now people came back to their senses and now they are working together as long as they understand the issues that need to be addressed,” Mr Poul said.

“We’ve agreed on disengagement or separation and withdrawal of the forces—including the allied forces.

Delegates are continuing with discussions in three thematic groups on issues of governance, security and economy.

The IGAD mediators have set the 5th of March as the deadline for the warring parties to reach lasting peace in South Sudan.
