South Sudan and Kenya are holding a two-day peace conference aimed at resolving cross-border raids in Nadapal, Kapoeta East County.

There have been reports of cattle raiding between South Sudan’s Toposa and the Turkana of Kenya.

The Commissioner of Kapoeta East, Jaffar Lowara, says the conference commenced on Wednesday and is expected to end today.

He said the meeting will also discuss issues of child kidnapping between the two communities.

“We are still a new nation. Issue of agriculture is still limited for us. All our supplies comes from the border,” Mr Lowara said. “If peace comes, that mean a lot of things will come from Kenya.”

Mr Lowara said delegates from both countries have recommended that authorities should stop illegal possession of firearms.
