No SPLM National Convention this Year, Bol Makueng

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement Secretary of Information says the party will not hold its National Convention this year because the party manifesto is still being reviewed.

Bol Makueng said the delay was because some party members had been engaged in the last round of negotiations between the Government of South Sudan and the Government of Sudan in Addis Abba.

“We have four basic documents: one is the constitution, the second is the manifesto, and the third is the code of conduct and the fourth is rules and regulations,” he said.

Mr. Makueng said that the SPLM is not afraid of criticism or the emergence of new political parties in South Sudan.

He also challenged the accuracy of a report carried by the Sudan Tribune website last week that 90% of the citizens of Greater Bahr El-Ghazal want a new political party to challenge the SPLM.
