Cattle raiding and disputes over grazing lands have been discussed at a meeting between Greater Kapoeta commissioners and Kenya’s Turkana administrators.
The commissioner of Kapoeta East County, Titus Lokwacuma, told Eye Radio the issues facing communities on both side of the border are pressing:
“We have a problem with the cattle grazing areas, when it becomes dry and there’s no grass cattle will be forced to go and graze in somebody areas, and that may bring problem, that why we want to create this initiative in advance..,” he said
The two border counties have held several peace and reconciliation conferences in order to improve understanding and communication between the pastoralists.
