SPLM in Opposition has failed to attend the discussions about the reunification of the party in South Africa, an SPLM official has said.

Last week, the South African government invited the three factions to continue with the discussions, which started in Arusha earlier this year.

They include SPLM, SPLM-IO and the former political detainees.

The SPLM Acting Secretary General, Dr. Ann Itto, says the meeting is still going on in Pretoria.

“Our members of the tripartite committee, which is a mechanism created in the Arusha Agreement plus that of SPLM former political detainees, and supposedly the members of the committee from SPLM I.O should have all gone to Pretoria for a meeting with the co-granters,” Dr Ann told the media.

Delegates from the South African ruling party, Africa National Congress and Tanzania’s Chama Cha Mapenduzi are also attending the meeting.
