The SPLA says it will conduct multiple shootings today as part of military exercises for trainees at Gorom Military Center near Juba.

It urges the civilians not to panic when they hear the gunfire.

The SPLA Spokesperson, Brigadier Lul Koang Ruai said various weapons will be fired during the drill.

He said the exercise will be carried out for trainees before they graduate.

“The intention is to let the residents of Juba know that this is a routine exercise in fulfillment of training requirements for recruits to graduate,” Brig Ruai told Eye Radio. “[Do] not to panic.”

Brigadier Lul urged civilians to avoid the western and northern parts of Gorom because these areas are within the firing range.
