SPLA presents Museveni with bulls & cows

The army has provided cows as gifts to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni for the role his army has played in the conflict.

Mr Museveni sent the troops into the country after the outbreak of the conflict in Juba in 2013.

They were allied to the government and fought in battles along the Bor-Juba road.

But under the peace agreement, all the foreign forces involved in the conflict, including those allied to the SPLM in Opposition, should leave the country.

About 1500 soldiers who were in Bor left the area and are in Juba for a farewell before they leave the country, officials say.

The SPLA deputy chief of general staff, Lt Gen Malual Ayom says the army has given Museveni the cows and iPods as a sign of appreciation.

He told Eye Radio that the Ugandan forces that were in Jonglei received the gifts.

“We gave gifts to president’s Museveni, and those gifts included two bulls, a cow, and two heifers,” Lt. Gen Ayom said.

“These bulls and a white cow as the symbol of Jonglei state and as you know our white cows are not just given for the sake of giving; it is very difficult to give our bulls.”

A farewell has been scheduled for today at the Juba airport before the Ugandan troops leave the country.
