Government troops clashed with the SPLM in Opposition forces in Upper Nile State yesterday.

Deputy Governor Awer Dau says the SPLM in Opposition shelled government positions in Renk County.

“They shelled the town with heavy ammunition, eight civilians wear injured in that attack and now the situation is stable,” said Mr Dau.

“There were no more casualties in Renk north.”

However, the spokesman of the SPLM in Opposition forces, Brigadier General Lul Koang Ruai, denied that his forces initiated the fighting.

He said several people were killed on both sides.
