Author : | Published: Tuesday, October 13, 2015

A leading South Sudanese lawyer was attacked and wounded in the Kenyan Capital, Nairobi, on Tuesday morning.

Samuel Dong Luak was shot in the leg by a group of armed robbers after breaking into his apartment on the outskirt of the city.

Mr Dong also sustained injuries to the jaw and elbow. He was then rushed to a hospital where he received treatment.

“They took my phone, school bags, and other valuables,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

In August 2013, Mr Dong fled South Sudan after he allegedly received death threats from senior security officers who warned him against being part of SPLM Secretary General Pagan Amum’s defense team.

He was one of the 17 lawyers representing Mr Amum in his case against President Salva Kiir.

Mr. Dong is also a member of the Law Society.
