Ruweng Administrative Area has received about 3 million US dollars equating to the 3 percent share provided for communities in the oil-producing areas, the chief administrator said.

Stephano Wieu Mialek said his administration has also received the 2-percent oil share constitutionally allocated for development.

Mialek said that he found a three-year accumulation (2020 to 2023 ), and since he assumed office, remittances have been made and channeled into the CDC accounts for some months.

“The money (3%) has been accumulating for three years. As I speak, we have not less than three million dollars and this is what will be used to deliver some of these projects,” he told Eye Radio.

“That is what has been accumulated from 2020 up to now. It is in the account we have in the CDC (Community Development Committee). We have also received our 2 percent which we are also delivering on some of our projects you see the guest house the resident we are also doing some medical supply.”

Chief Stephano said the community is currently identifying development projects to be implemented in December this year.

“Now they (CDC) are in the planning phase. They now identify some of the projects and they will prioritize five projects that will be financed through this money, and I think by December some of these projects will kick off in terms of implementation.”

“That is the direction that we are heading with these revenues. Our argument is we are injecting this mainly to development activities for the delivery of basic social service including education, safe drinking water, and health.”
