Why Riek Machar should speak on ‘Arrow Boys’ in Yambio

Author : | Published: Friday, May 20, 2016

The mayor of Yambio municipality is appealing to the SPLM in Opposition to stop arrow boys from attacking towns in the area.

‘The Arrow Boys’ is a group of vigilante youth initially mobilized by the then, Western Equatoria government to defend the community against attacks by the Lord’s Resistance Movement rebel group.

Recently the group said they are loyal to the opposition led by the first vice president, Dr Riek Machar.

Yambio Mayor Daniel Badagbu says the vigilante group is now running some payams in the area whereby they attack civilians and loot property, especially in Li-rangu payam and parts of Ezo County.

“What is the position of Dr Riek Machar on this one, we are very eager to know? For example, li-rangu is under them now and they are the ones now there, people are running away,” he inquired.

“He is already the vice president now what advice is he giving them?”
The SPLM in opposition is yet to comment on the matter.
