Authorities in Rumbek North and Tonj East Counties have agreed to compensate families of the victims who were killed three months ago in revenge fighting.
19 people were killed during the inter-communal violence between the two counties.
The resolution came during an ongoing reconciliation meeting between the two communities held in Tonj East County. It commenced on Wednesday and is expected to end today.
The Commissioner of Rumbek North County, Madong Muorwel, said the agreement will immediately be implemented.
“All the chiefs and the relatives of the victims agreed upon 51 heads of cattle [per victim],” Mr Muorwel told Eye Radio.
Two traditional courts have also been established to solve issues pertaining to the two counties.
