The Commissioner of Maridi County in Western Equatoria State has urged the national government to deploy more police force to his county to maintain law and order.

Thomas Wilson Yanga says there have been several incidents of cattle raids in the county, resulting into killing of civilians.

Yanga says the police personnel that are in the county are few and poorly armed compared to cattle raiders.

“So I am really appealing to the National Government to hurry up because this is already the source of insecurity which is serious, especially where they have displaced citizens, about 16 km from here.” He said.

Yanga says people from Mudubai village have moved to Maridi town in fear of attacks from cattle raiders, leaving their belongings behind.
