The national parliament on Monday unanimously passed the policy and strategic plans that mandate the Federal Affairs Ministry to initiate the process of the federal system of governance in the country.

The 2022 to 2025 policy framework sets out policies and programs on the devolution of powers and resources at all levels of governance.

It will also enable the allocation of resources to attain the strategic goals of the Ministry while implementing the governance system as spelt out in the peace agreement.

The assembly spokesperson John Agany confirmed to the media on Monday, May 22, 2023.

He said that the policy was passed with recommendations and observations.

“The policy framework has already been discussed and passed unanimously by the house so that the Ministry of Federal Affairs will continue to plan for its ministry and the tasks that have been assigned to it by the agreement,” said Agany.

“This will be followed by the constitutional amendments and the constitutional making process which is actually, going to be a key item to be discussed in the following few months,

“The policy has been passed in totality with recommendations and observations that are made by the members”.

The document was presented by Malek Cook Dwarch, the Chairperson of the Committee of Federal Affairs.

It is expected to be incorporated into the constitution-making process.
