Oil technicians to assess the damage in Unity oil fields

The Minister of Petroleum and Mining says it will send oil technicians to assess environmental damage in oil fields in Unity State.

Stephen Dhieu denied rumors that the oil pipes are leaking and causing effects on the environment and on people’s health.

Dhieu told the media that the oil fields in Unity State are now under control of the government.

“We are now going back after the SPLA forces have taken over the oil fields, and we have sent the people first of all to clear and carry out the grass cutting to save the facilities in the area.” He said.

On her part, the Norwegian Ambassador to South Sudan, Tone Tinnes said her Government will support the Government of South Sudan in oil production.
