The Commissioner of Lainya County is urging the Central Equatoria state and national governments to repair the Juba-Lainya and Juba-Kaya roads.

Kaya is located on the border with Uganda. It is an entry point for goods from East Africa.

Huda Mika says traders and passengers have been facing difficulties in transporting their goods using these roads.

“I am calling upon the two governments that they should look and have a special consideration for the Juba-Kaya roads, because Yei and Lainya are in the middle,” she told Eye Radio.

Ms Mika said farmers in Lainya have cultivated crops, but they cannot get the produce to the markets in the main towns due to bad roads.

Laniya is one of the agricultural areas and it produces crops such as beans, rice, cassava and other crops.
