A 36-year-old police officer was shot dead, and his motorcycle was robbed by unidentified gunmen at Jebel Korok of Juba on Wednesday night, according to a local chief.

Sultan Mark Ngor says the deceased who has been identified as Kak Obur, is an assistant in the security police at Rock City police station.

Chief Ngor reports that the residents heard gunshots at 9 PM last night before discovering the dead body this morning.

He says this is the area has now seen five such robberies, most of them deadly, in the recent months.

The local chief narrates what happened in an interview with Eye Radio at the crime scene this morning.

“Around nine o’clock in the evening, we heard the sound of gunshot, I called one of my colleagues, and we came out to see what happened, but we did not see anything, and we stayed for an hour,” narrated.

“In the morning, we discovered that a person had been killed. He was one of our neighbours, and his name was Kak Obur. He was an assistant in the security police at Rock City police station.”

Mr. Ngor said he believes the murder was planned by the perpetrators, who, according to him, might have tailed the victim.

“I believe that this incident was planned, and I believe that they traced his steps to this place. The security situation here is not good these days, and this is not the first incident, but the fifth.”

There is no report of arrest so far, and police is yet to comment on the matter.
