The Juba City Council says more than 60 percent of traffic lights have been vandalized by “people who are not nationalist”.
In 2014, the city council installed more than 60 solar-powered traffic lights at 50 road intersections across Juba.
Most of these traffic control lights, including the ones at Customs and University roundabouts are not in working order.
“Some of our people who are not nationalist have started to steal the streetlight,” said Ater Ayiel Wolgol, JCC’s Deputy Mayor for Administration and Finance.
The security has been unable to “detect those who are stealing the solar panels.
The traffic lights were donated by the government of the republic of China.
