NILEPET board tasks MD Amuor with reforming oil firm

NILEPET Board of Directors has directed the new Managing Director Bernard Amuor Makeny to transform the institution’s governance structure including the employment and recruitment process.

The head of national oil company has been told to address issues of over-employment and redundancy.

It also directed the cooperation to ensure the subsidiaries and joint companies streamline the employment policies based on the regional diversity of South Sudan including 35 % affirmative for women.

The board directors has been mandated to comply with the approved budget and strict spending in accordance with the public finance and accountability laws and regulations of the country.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of NILEPET Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin who is also the Minister of Presidential Affairs said the country will see a new life in the company.

“What is important is that a national oil company is expected to gain money for the country and for the people of that country, and therefore we are going to see a new life that the company will be provided.”

Engineer Benard Amuor was appointed as NILEPET Managing Director in January this year, by President Salva Kiir. He replaced Dr. Chol Deng.

The national oil company has majority stakes in six joint ventures, with three currently active, Nile Drilling and services Co, Nile Delta, in partnership with Nigeria‘s Niger Delta E and P, and SIPET engineering.
