NGOs asked to get operation license from SSRRC

The South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission is urging all organizations working in the country to seek operation license from the commission.

The Acting Director General of the NGOs Affairs, Thomas Tombe Loro said there are organizations that begin to operate in the country without license.

He said there are two registration stages that all NGOs must undergo before beginning work.

Mr. Loro told the Dawn Program that SSRRC is the final body to issue certificate of operation, after the Ministry of Justice.

“When most of the NGOs are registered [by Justice Ministry], they decide to go to areas of operation which is wrong,” he said. “They are supposed to be told to come to the RRC directorate of NGOs affairs to give them operational certificate.”

Mr. Loro also said the Directorate of NGOs Affairs was created to facilitate the registration and renewal of operation certificates, and coordinate the activities of the NGOs.
