The warring parties, through the leadership committee, today submitted to the IGAD mediators, a final report on the issues they have disagreed upon.

These include power sharing, security arrangements and the structures of the executive and the national legislature.

The mediators are expected to return the final documents to the delegates after they complete consultations with other stakeholders.

Addressing the media in Addis Ababa this afternoon, the spokesperson of the government’s delegation to the peace talks, Minister Michael Makuei, says the final draft may be returned to the delegates tomorrow.

The acting chief negotiator of the SPLM-SPLA In Opposition, Dr. Dhieu Mathok, says their position remains the same on the contentious issues.

He says they want to share power with the government equally, and day they want to amalgamate the two armies during the interim period.

President Salva Kiir arrived in Addis Ababa this afternoon for meeting with the leader of the SPLM-SPLA In Opposition, Dr. Riek Machar.

The two leaders are expected to resolve the issues that the warring parties’ delegations at the peace talks have disagreed on.
