Authorities in Lakes State say the number of people who were killed in a revenge attack has risen to fifty.

On Saturday forty people were killed and more than forty others were wounded in a revenge attack in Rumbek East County.

The State Minister of Public Services and the Acting Minister of Information, Dhiew Wol, says the death toll has risen because some of those who were wounded have died.

“The killing, people are talking of 35or 50 because there are some wounded still dying also 35or 40in both said.” He said.

Wol says security forces have been deployed in Rumbek East to help contain the situation there.
