Mundri West residents abandon homes over insecurity

Mundri West residents are fleeing their homes in fear of insecurity, An MP Representing the county in the National Legislative Assembly has said.

Joseph Ngere says there were heavy shootings over the weekend in the areas of Jambo, Buagyi, Lanyi, Lui, and Amadi Mundri junction.

“I learned that people are afraid of some shooting along the road, so they have abundant their homes and have gone into hiding,” Hon Ngere told Eye Radio.

The cause of the gunfire is unclear. The SPLA could not be reached to give details on the incident.

There have been cases of fighting in the county.

In May, 18 people, including five civilians, were killed in clashes among SPLA soldiers. This led to displacement of thousands of residents.
