Man arrested for ‘burning’ his mother to death in Kator

A 30-year-old suspected serial killer and former death-row inmate has been arrested in Juba for allegedly stabbing and burning his mother to death inside a room on Friday, police said.

According to a Quarter Council official, the incident happened at 4:30 AM in the Kator Residential Area.

The suspect identified as Gism Allah was accused of murdering his mother, who previously suffered several domestic violence incidents perpetrated by him.

Speaking to Eye Radio, the head of Kalibalek Quarter Council, Wani Isaac said he was informed about the incident on Saturday morning.

“In this incident, I received a phone call at 4:30 in the morning about this young man burning his mother at night inside a room. When I arrived at the scene of the accident, his mother’s body was placed under the mattress.”

“I went immediately and reported the case to the police, and police officers came to the place, and they took the body My message to the government is to monitor the behavior of young people in residential neighborhoods.”

The head of the local Quarter Council also alleges that the suspect has a criminal record, adding that the incident was not the first of its kind.

He reportedly committed murder and was sentenced to death in the Sudanese capital Khartoum.

But his mother went to Khartoum and facilitated his release.

However, upon escaping the jaw of death, the suspect was later arrested and convicted for beating and holding his mother and sister hostage. Again, his later mother resolved the incident and forgave him.

Finally, the suspect is understood to have ended the life of his savior mother in a tragic homicide, on October 6.

When contacted, National Police Spokesperson Major General Daniel Justin, confirmed the arrest and said the case is under investigation.

“Yes, I would like to assure you that a man burned his mother in a room in Kator and was arrested while he was still under investigation by the police. This is what happened on Friday evening.”
