The medical charity, MSF says malaria cases in the IDP camp in Bentiu Unity State is on the rise.

MSF Medical coordinator in the area, Vanessa Crayman says more than three children die each day from the disease in the area.

She says they have screened over 30,000 malaria cases of children under the age of five in the camp in a seven days eradication campaign.

She said: “We’ve seen a very sharp increase in malaria presentation in the hospital which MSF runs in the Protection of Civilian Camp. Sometimes more than three children die per day”

“The campaign was very successful, we were able to identify and screen over 30, 000 children under the age of five and we treated over 16, 000 of them over the last seven days for malaria.”

Ms. Crayman says the organization is carrying malaria campaigns in the area to reduce the rate of daily infection.
