The War Disabled, Widows and Orphans Commission says its major programs in the states have been halted due to lack of funds.

The commission is in charge of implementing projects that include training in agriculture and self-employment for the SPLA disabled, widows and orphans.

The body says the lack of funds is as a result of the current economic crisis.

“…. particularly the widows program; for example, the issue of training in tailoring and other capacity building programs in the states, our needs as the commission for them to help the orphans in the schools in Gbudwe state…,” the chairperson, Deng Dau Deng, told Eye Radio.

Mr Deng was speaking to Eye Radio on the 30th of May in Juba after a meeting with the Gbudwe State Minister of Education, Mr Pia Philip Michael.

He urged the state minister to ensure adequate support in training for the widows in the state.
