The Minister of Information in Warrap State says rehabilitation work on the Kuajok–Wau road will be completed next week, with more than 10 kilometers already rehabilitated.
Minister Wol Mayom said the road project, commissioned by the National Minister of Roads and Bridges, Lam Both, is now underway.
He said the current phase of the road improvement is expected to be completed by the 17th of this month.
“The renovation, rehabilitation of Kuajok Wau Highway has already kicked off now. The rehabilitation is at the stage to complete about 10 km away from Wau to kuajok. So, this is good news for the people of Warrap state the rehabilitation is to be completed on date 17 of this month,’’ he said.
The rehabilitation of the highway is being welcomed as a major breakthrough for communities that have faced years of transportation challenges due to poor road conditions.
The Kuajok–Wau road is an important transport corridor linking Kuajok, the capital of Warrap State, to Wau and other areas including Twic County, the Abyei Administrative Area, Ruweng Administrative Area, and Unity State.
For many years, the road project had stalled, affecting trade and movement between Kuajok and Wau.
