Kiir, Riek urged to bargain powers they want to share

President Salva Kiir and Dr. Riek Machar should discuss the powers they want to share during the interim period, SPLM Secretary for Syndicate and Popular Organization has said.

Recent agreements gives a room for a post of a prime minister during the proposed interim government.

However, the power of the presidents and the prime minister are yet to be agreed upon.

Achuil Malith told Eye Radio’s Dawn that it is time to bargain.

“What remained from the peace talks this time is a bargain between the President Salva Kiir and Riek Machar that both of them should sit and look what can be discussed in this round,” Mr Malith said.

“Because what I’m saying is that the two delegates can’t discuss the powers of the President.”

Mr. Malith says the international community and civil society in South Sudan should take this opportunity to bring peace to the country.
