Four people were found dead on Thursday and a dozen others have been hospitalized in Kenya’s Kilifi County after being rescued while waiting the Biblical end of the world prophesy.

The Standard newspaper reports that the deceased worshipers of Pastor Paul Mackenzie’s Good News International Church, died after going for days without food and water at Shakahola village in Magarini Constituency.

Their bodies were taken to Malindi sub-county hospital mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

”The ignorant citizens are starving to death in pretext to meet Jesus after being brainwashed by a suspect, one Paul Makenzie Nthenge a pastor of Good News International Church” read the police report seen by the Standard.

The newspaper reports that the survivors said they have been told to fast to avoid “apocalyptic damnation”.

According to the BBC, the authorities rescued 11 people – six of whom were emaciated and in critical condition.

Police reportedly said they will resume a search for more members of the group on Friday morning following reports that others were still in the forest.

The police are also reported to have found a fresh grave in the forest which will be investigated on Friday.

It is also reported that the worshipers belong to Good News International Church that is led by a local pastor who has been on police radar for allegedly urging his followers to starve to death in order to reach heaven faster.
