Children in Kapuri village west of Juba will soon start learning in well-constructed classrooms.

They have been receiving lessons under trees, which affect their learning especially during rainy seasons.

Over the weekend, Rwandan Contingent of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan launched a construction of eight classrooms. The project will cost $115,000.

Kapuri Primary School is a community project being supported by the UNMISS in order to provide a better learning space for the vulnerable children of the area.

“We are working with the local community of Kapuri village to put up a school where pupils were learning under trees,” said Captain Sam Lorwangwa, spokesperson of UNMISS Rwandan Contingent.

Captain Sam said he hopes that the new class rooms will be ready by January next year.

Ochen David, school head teacher said he hopes the new building will provide a better learning space for children compared to learning under trees.

The school is expected to be opened in January 2015.
