Health authorities conduct Ebola awareness campaign at its borders with DR C, Uganda

An extensive awareness campaign on Ebola is being conducted at the South Sudan borders with Uganda and Congo.

Dr. Thomas Akim, Director of Emergency Response at health ministry says the Ebola prevention Unit is scanning travelers for the disease at the airport and at various entry points to the country.

The Health Education Director in the Ministry of Health, Mary Denis, urged the public to report any suspected cases of Ebola to the nearest health facility.

“We would like to tell the community that if someone dies among them while the causes are not known, or if someone is realized to have high fever, bleeding from different parts of his or her body, skin rashes, diarrhea or vomiting, we advise the community to immediately rush the person to the nearest hospital,” Ms Denis said.

Ebola is a viral disease which is highly contagious.

So far it has killed more than 5,000 people in West Africa since July with some individual cases registered in both Europe and America.
