Juba County Commissioner has indefinitely relocated his office to Lado Payam in a bid to stamp out ongoing land grabbing in the area.

Charles Joseph Wani decided to move to the Juba outskirts days after the Central Equatoria State government suspended land demarcation in the area.

On Saturday, August 26, Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony visited Lado Payam where he confirmed the illegal land allotment, allegedly by military officers.

Addressing the locals on Saturday, Commissioner Wani said he will be working from Lado Payam of Juba County until the survey has ceased.

The county officer added that any senior officer found claiming as a chief must be arrested.

After Lado Payam, Wani said he plans to move to Mangala and Rajaf Payams

“I will continue work here until I see to it that, the people of Lado Payam are safe, and I will move from here to Kondukoro Payam until people of Kondokoro are safe and Rajaf until I see the people of Rajaf is safe,” he said.

Wani also mentioned that he will move to Lokiliri as well as Mangala Payam to flush out the land grabbing activities.

He called on all law enforcement agents to implement President Kiir’s 2021 order – suspending land allocation until an investigation was carried out.

“I need all of us to join our hands to fight this criminality and criminal activates. Am calling upon all the law enforcement agents to implement that order of the president.”

“Because the order of the president is already the law, if it’s already a law, must be implemented, and every senior officer found disguising as a chief must be arrested.”

Early this year, the national government set up a committee to investigate such cases across the Central Equatoria State.

But so far, the outcome of the investigations has not been made public.
