The Commissioner of Budi County, Eastern Equatoria, says the hunger situation in the county is deteriorating.
Mr. Sam Felix Makuja says his county has been hit by drought, destroying crops in the farms.
He says this has led to hunger and starvation in the area because there is no food stuff in the markets.
Early this week, he told Eye Radio that some residents were surviving on leaves.
Commissioner Makuja told Eye Radio today that the situation could worsen if it is not contained in time.
“There is no any relief aid from any NGO, neither from FAO nor any other [humanitarian group],” he said.
“We are encouraging business people from outside to bring some sorghum, maize or some of their livestock for sale.”
Mr. Felix said farmers have cultivated but it has not rained for months now.
