Greater Pibor Chief Administrator says an investigative committee from Juba has been dispatched to Pochalla South County after the killing of the Commissioner, his two bodyguards and a senior security officer on Wednesday.

Pochalla South Commissioner Samuel Ojulu Ochalla was gunned down on June 7 with his two personal protection officers – while visiting a scene in Lango village where a national security officer was killed.

Another civilian was also killed in the attack putting the death toll to five.

The motive for the killings remains unknown but Pibor points fingers at local militants who are reportedly against the appointment of the slain commissioner.

Chief Administrator Lokali Amae Bullen did not mention the names and members of the investigation committee.

He says his government is waiting to hear from the team once it completes the mission.

However, Amae said the security situation in Pochalla South is now calm.

“The situation now is calm down and there’s a committee sent by the national government to Pochalla, they are still there, we will wait until the committee returns, even though we know who is who, but all in all we need to give room to the committee,” Bullen said.

In an interview with Eye Radio on Tuesday, he called on the people of the Greater Pibor to shun violence and promote peace and reconciliation.

“My message is to tell everybody in Greater Pibor Administrative Area, we need to stop all this violence and work for the peace, so we can give room to our government or the international community to deliver services to our people.”

“Our people stayed for long without any services, so we cannot kill ourselves without reason. So, I condemned those who planned and killed the commissioner.”

That was the chief administrator speaking to Eye Radio this morning from Pibor town.
