The government of South Sudan has announced the relocation of staff from the Embassy in Khartoum after it was partly hit in the ongoing clashes in Sudan.

Spokesperson Michael Makuei says the decision was reached during the Council of Ministers’ meeting on Friday.

The move comes days after the government said the Embassy would remain open to continue discharging its bilateral mission in Sudan.

“It was partly hit by one of the shells,

“It is decided that the staff of the embassy should be relocated, but not to be closed. They are only to be relocated to a place where they can continue to operate safely,  said “Makuei.

On Friday, reports emerged that the fighting continued despite the rival factions extending the truce for another three days.

Juba, on Friday, said the leader of the Sudanese Army Abdel Fatah Burhan accepted an IGAD initiative for peace dialogue and was engaging the commander of the Paramilitary Rapid Force (RSF) on the same.
