Author : | Published: Tuesday, March 10, 2015

The government has launched an investigation into the killing of protestors during a police strike last week in Wau, the capital of Western Bahr al-Ghazal State.

Five people, including a pregnant woman, were killed in the incident.

The police personnel were demanding payment for three month salary arrears.

They started receiving two month salaries over the weekend.

“The Minister of Interior has formed a committee to know the reasons of this incident and, who caused the incident and the nature of the incident,” Zakaria Joseph, deputy state governor, told Eye Radio.

Mr Zakaria says the state government has also formed its own investigation committee to establish the causes of the strike.
