The Governor of Eastern Equatoria has challenged the State lawmakers to write project proposals to raise resources for the development of their respective constituencies.

Early this month, the state government launched a three-year State Strategic Development Plan in the capital, Torit.

The plan requires an estimated expenditure of more than 82 billion pounds with a deficit of more than SSP.71 billion, according to the government.

Louis Lobong Lojore is now tasking the State lawmakers to join in the mobilization of resources for the implementation of the State’s strategic plan.

He says Members of Parliament have a crucial role in the development of their constituencies through resource mobilization.

Lobong sounded the call during the reopening of the State’s Legislative Assembly last Monday in Torit.

“Mobilize resources and engage with the stakeholders in the implementation of the State Strategic Development Plan 2022-2024,” said Lobong.

“It is a collective responsibility including you members of this August House.”

“Everyone should discover possibilities, knock on doors, and talk with investors and anyone who can do something even in your constituency or area,” he said.

“You go all over the world, you find Members of Parliament write projects and sell to partners, sell to investors so that development goes to their constituencies,” Governor Lobong said.

“Everyone has a role to play because tomorrow, people will be asking you, what did you do?”.
