Germany offers $5m to Unicef

Germany has donated more than $5 million to the UN children agency, UNICEF.

More than $3 million is from the German government while some $2 million is from German Nation Committee for Unicef.

The charge de Affairs at the Germen Embassy in Juba, Peter Benger, announced the funding at a press conference yesterday.

The funds will be used on child health and education projects in South Sudan.

“We hope to try and target 600,000children with some of these funds,” said Jonathan Veitch, Unicef country representative.

The projects also include child protection.
