Former Mundri commissioner dies in Juba at 65

Samson Arabi, the former commissioner of Mundri West County in Western Equatoria State died in Juba on Monday, aged 65 years.

The incumbent Mundri West commissioner, Zilpha Dawa said Arabi passed away after undergoing appendicitis operation at a hospital in Juba.

In an interview with Eye Radio on Tuesday, Commissioner Zilpha said arrangements to transport the deceased official’s remains to his hometown of Mundri are underway.

“It happened yesterday (Monday) at 8 pm, former commissioner honorable Samson Arabi, operation he got this situation,” he said.

“There are arrangements because up to now we have taken his body to the morgue and we are going back home so that we can make arrangements before we prepared, and tomorrow if we finish everything maybe we can go to the countryside next tomorrow within Mundri town.”

Late Arabi joined the SPLM before the Comprehensive Peace Agreement was signed in Nairobi, Kenya in 2005.

He became Mundri West County Commissioner in 2010 where he served until 2012.

Late former commissioner Arabi is survived with more than 20 sons and daughters.
