Ezo launches agricultural campaign

Author : | Published: Thursday, January 8, 2015

Authorities in Ezo County of Western Equatoria State launched agricultural campaign this week.

They emphasize that every citizen in the county must prepare at least one acre of land for the next cultivation season.

Most food commodities consumed in the country come from the neighboring countries, according to officials.

The Commissioner of Ezo, Albert Modie, says he met with chiefs this week and they agreed to persuade people to engage in farming.

“The aim is that, if we cultivate enough food, then people will be in position to pay their children school fees,” Mr Modie told Eye Radio.

“So, we need to work hard, to work hard means that we inject some local orders so that our people can work. Now they are responding positively because this is what people of Western Equatoria State rely on.”

Commissioner Modie says they hope to cultivate enough food that would feed the whole country.
