Eye Radio welcomed in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal

The government of Western Bahr el Ghazal state has welcomed the extension of Eye Radio broadcasts to Wau and its surrounding areas.

On Tuesday, Eye Radio Senior Engineer, James Kwaje, switched on the Eye Radio repeater in Wau.

This comes a month after Eye Radio extended its coverage to Torit, the capital of Eastern Equatoria State.

Speaking to Eye Radio’s Deng Dimo in Wau, the state minister of information Mary Karlio announced the development.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to inform the citizens of Western of Bahr el Ghazal state that there is a new radio station called Eye Radio,” Ms Karlio said.

“Congratulations to the citizens of Western Bahr El Ghazal state; we the governments do encourage the private media to come in to provide services to the people of Western Bahr el Ghazal.

“So, I can say to Eye Radio you are highly welcomed, feel at home; feel comfortable do your work without any doubt. Thank you.”

This is the second repeater set up by Eye Media, a South Sudanese organization operating Eye Radio.

Eye Media and Internews-South Sudan are in partnership with Zain Telecommunication Company to expand Eye Radio broadcasts to all the state capitals.

Kuajok, Aweil, Yambio, Bor, Bentiu and Malakal are awaiting installation.

Eye Radio is an independent media, 100% South Sudanese.

It is supported financially by the United Agency for International Development, USAID.
