The Vice President for Infrastructure Cluster has called on the Bank of South Sudan to build the capacity of young people by providing job opportunities.

Taban Deng Gai spoke in Juba on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, during the launch of a 5-year strategic plan for the Bank of South Sudan

He says the bank needs to build the capacity of young people through employment.

Taban also stressed the need of fighting corruption and tribalism in South Sudan.

“The advice I will give on behalf of the President here is the development of the capacity of the bank and also young South Sudanese,” said VP Taban.

“When it comes to recruitment, recruiting should be for people who can work in the bank, so you shouldn’t recruit someone who cannot work in the bank because there are criteria.”

“Let’s not commit the big mistake we did in Nile-pet. Nile-pet today I am told there are more than 3,000 workers in Nile-pet only 70 are engineers or economists,” he said. The two thousand and something are not supposed to be in Nile Pet.”

“They are supposed to be in church, and others are supposed to be in classrooms teaching English,” he added.

“When you come to recruitment, recruit those who are supposed to work in the bank, fight corruption, you fight tribalism these are the two diseases that are killing South Sudan.”
