The International Rescue Committee says a campaign is underway to encourage victims of any form of abuses to speak out.

The Respect and Response campaign is intended to reach out to victims of the current conflict in Central Equatoria, Lakes and Northern Bhar al-Ghazal.

The campaign will also be carried out in Western Equatoria State.

The IRC Women Protection and Empowerment Senior Manager, Pamela Tuyot said the campaign is research-based and will state the abuses survivors have gone through during the conflict

She said the exercise will be carried out in various languages.

“We will have forums where we directly reach out to the police and have gender-based violence awareness and seek their support in addressing this and continued support on this and we will also have out reach to the community in general where we are also speaking to women to empower women so that women can speak out in this situation.” She said.

Tuyot said the IRC is planning a similar campaign in the other six states.
