Three women and more than four children are still missing after armed men attacked farmers in Jalhak in Eastern Nile State.

On Monday, armed men attacked farmers on their way to their farms and killed seven people, including police personnel.

The State Minister of Information, Jacob Lim, says the armed men kidnapped the women and their children and drove with them to the border with Sudan.

Mr Lim says two of the attackers were killed while the rest are being pursued in an effort to try to recover the children and women.

“After they killed seven people, they expelled the remaining police and soldiers and then they carried away with them three women and some children and then they took a tractor with them,” he said.

“One woman we confirmed was having four children; the other two ladies were also having some children who we were not able to confirm by number,” he added.

Mr. Lim also said the situation is relatively calm in the state and the incident is being investigated.
