The public can now apply for nationality IDs and Passports at the Directorate of Immigration.

Last month, the government suspended the issuance of National identity cards and passports for the next two weeks.

The Directorate of Passports, Nationality and Immigration said that systems at the department were being upgraded to accommodate a huge increase in data.

The Director General of the Department, Major General Augustine Madut Parek told Eye Radio yesterday that the data system has been modified to accommodate huge number of applications.

“After we completed the upgrading of our system, we have started and the citizen can access their documents, and for the new one the process it is still going on.

The new system stores about between 1,500 to 2,000 applications per day.

Major Gen. Madut said the upgrading of data systems is ongoing at the Directorate of Passports, Nationality and Immigration in the states.
