Defunct Bieh State Speaker Isaac Kuach dies at 63

Former Speaker of Defunct Bieh State Isaac Kuiach Douth succumbed to stroke.

The Speaker of the former Defunct Bieh State Isaac Kuach Douth has died at 63 following repeated strokes, the late’s brother confirmed the demise to Eye Radio.

Makuei Puok Bai says his late brother was hit by a stroke two years ago and was initially taken to Khartoum, Sudan for treatment.

A few days ago, he was admitted with the medical condition to a hospital in Juba where he succumbed due to a brain stroke on Wednesday.

“Honorable Isaac has almost two years with the sickness and he was taken to Khartoum for medication and he was back last year to Juba when he recovered.

“And then the sickness started again and he was admitted to Harmony Hospital in Juba and according to the doctors he was having a stroke in the head.”

Makuei describes the late Isaac Kuach as a leader, teacher, and mentor who loved advising people.

“Isaac was quite a person that listened to you if you come to him, even he loved listening to children,” he said.

The late Isaac Kuach Douth served as the minister of Education in Jonglei State from 2003-2004.

In 2004-2005, he served as the minister of physical infrastructure in Jonglei State.

Between 2010-2012, he was the Commissioner of Nyirol County.  From 2023-2015, he served as the Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.

Prior to the 2018 peace deal, the late Isaac was elected an MP and Chief Whip in the defunct Bieh State before being installed as the speaker of the defunct Bieh State.

At the time of his death, he was a Brigadier General in the South Sudan National Police Service.
